Abstract

Simplified dynamic analytical models of primary commands of a car, i.e., the steering wheel and gearshift, are identified and developed in the paper. The dynamic models are used to design the control law of force feedback devices, which can be integrated in a car simulator. The model simulation results match satisfactorily with the experimental available data. An experimental partial assessment of control law for the gearshift simulation has been performed with a commercially available force-feedback joystick. The gearshift simulation control is implemented with an hybrid model, based on a state machine. The results are presented and discussed
