Self-adaptive technique for Bandwidth Variable Transponders (BVTs) supporting superchannels in next generation optical networks is proposed. Automatic transponder configuration includes chromatic dispersion estimation, local oscillator fine tuning, maximization of information rate, subcarrier spacing optimization, while monitoring quality of transmission (QoT). The proposed procedure has been exploited in 1Tb/s field trial transmission over 1300 km.

Abstract
